The Therapeutic Relationship

The therapeutic process should enable you to explore your thoughts, emotions to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, in turn this can lead to you feeling more fulfilled in life. Exploring together the impact of present and past experiences, I can help you to navigate through your current situation and reshape your life.

Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures to develop life-changing habits to help them cope with any of life’s various obstacles. My therapy sessions are designed to dissect personal issues and provide clients with effective tools.

The Therapy Session What to expect

Is a 50 minutes session away from the pressures of everyday life where you can explore whatever challenges you may be facing. I offer my presence as an anchor to guide you into a deeper awareness of your inner experiences.

My aim is to provide an open, non-judgemental trusting therapeutic relationship where you can be heard and understood which will enable you to feel comfortable and supported.

Above all, we will work at your pace and in a way which suits you and helps you to resolve your difficulties.

What is the therapy room like?

My therapy room is cosy, warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is not cold nor clinical. I want people to feel comfortable, secure and relaxed and I think the room has a lot to do with this. The room is pleasantly decorated, has good lighting and soft furnishing to help to create a peaceful atmosphere . Space plays an important part in our emotional lives.

The First Meeting What to Expect
A Tower of Stones

The first meeting is an opportunity to meet each other, get acquainted and for you to decide if I am the right practitioner for you. In this meeting we will speak about your reasons for seeking counselling / psychotherapy and what you want to achieve from our work. We will discuss your situation, experiences and your background. In this meeting we will also clarify some practical issues, such as my ways of working, your availability for future meetings.

Our meeting will involve being curious and open, bringing humour and seriousness, with the opportunity to talk about things in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
